For those not in the Discord: Karl was our lead playtester’s favorite character. A lowly pikeman who, in v0.1, could survive the entire reconquista if you treated him well. In v0.2, I added a branching path where Karl could betray you if you burned a certain village.
The player then chooses between two options, both of which remove Karl as a commander. There is no “spare Karl” option. This is the update’s centerpiece:
