: The film follows Veer Pratap Singh (Shah Rukh Khan), an Indian rescue pilot who falls for Zaara Haayat Khan (Preity Zinta), a Pakistani girl. After a series of unfortunate events, Veer ends up in a Pakistani jail for 22 years, only to be reunited with Zaara through the efforts of a Pakistani lawyer, Saamiya Siddiqui (Rani Mukerji).
