The proliferation of AI-generated fake imagery has created a new frontier of exploitation for public figures, particularly female actors in regional entertainment industries. This paper examines the phenomenon of "fake photos" (morphs, deepfakes, and AI-generated nude images) targeting leading actresses in the Malayalam film industry (Mollywood). Moving beyond a purely technical discussion, this paper analyzes how these forgeries weaponize lifestyle aesthetics—traditionally a domain of aspirational branding and fan engagement—into a site of harassment. Using case studies from 2020–2025, we explore the psychological, professional, and legal repercussions for victims, the complicity of digital entertainment gossip networks, and the failure of existing legal frameworks in India. We argue that fake photos constitute a gendered form of digital violence that destabilizes the actor’s curated lifestyle image, forcing a retreat from public visibility and reshaping the political economy of celebrity in South India.
